This award is conferred to Filipino Community organizations in the United States for their invaluable contributions that helped advance the interests and welfare of the Filipino Community and the Filipino people in the Philippines or in the United States.

NG KAISANG BANYAGA O BANYAGANG GRUPO

This award is conferred to non-Filipino individuals or organizations in the United States for their invaluable contributions that helped advance the interests and welfare of the Filipino Community and the Filipino people in the Philippines or in the United States.

MECHANICS

The awardees for each category will be selected based on a set of criteria from among the nominations received by the Board of Judges, which is made up of the Consul General, the Deputy Consul General, the Consul, and Vice Consuls, the Trade Commissioner, the Tourism Representative, and the Chair of the Hiraya Foundation for Filipino-American Heritage Preservation Inc.

FOR JUDGING

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The Gawad Alab ng Lahi is open to Filipino or non-Filipino individuals, private enterprises, and organizations in the East Coast and other parts of the United States.

  2. Any individual or organization can submit nominations using the prescribed form found here.

  3. Nominators must submit narratives of their nominees and attach or upload from five to 10 PDF documents to assist the Board of Judges in evaluating the nominees. The documents must include a letter of acknowledgement and/or certificates of commendation/testimonial from beneficiaries, organizations, various sectors and communities, photos, press articles, links to videos and direct and verifiable public information sites.

  4. The nomination form must be completed across all its fields. The supporting documents should not be referred to without fulfilling the required entry fields.

  5. Entries with incomplete details and no supporting documents attached will not be considered.

  6. Deadline for the submission of nominations will be on 15 March 2022.

COMMITMENT & SOCIAL INITIATIVE

The consistent display of exceptional effort and service, and the outstanding performance in a particular field of endeavor, to contribute, develop and/or support various undertakings, even on their own volition, that promote the best interests of the Filipino – whether it be a sector, an organization, or community in the United States or in the Philippines.
